Chapter 15: [A Hint Of Hope]

As the breakout happened all around the city, the organization Chaos Breakers dispatched all the stationed troops around the city to secure the civilians safety while the users and soldiers at the base will try everything they can to defend it

[Highway, Intersection]

"Push them back! Hold the fort" ordered the sergeant as it continues to fire his guns equipped with bullets to kill a chaos being

Bang.....Bang.....Bang

Tatatatatatatata...

Poof.....poof.....

Zziiiing!!.....swziiiiing!!!!!.....

Crash.....Boooom....Zoooom.....Kaboooommm

As the battle continues they received multiple distress signals from different parts of the city

"This is bad we are totally cornered! We're already are having a hard time reducing their numbers" said one of the tech specialist

"It can't be helped.... As long as that chimera holds the rift we can't close.... So our only option is to kill that chimera" said the sergeant

"KLIEN GRENADE!!!" He shouted as throws the grenade

Tak.....Tak.....Tak.....Kabooom...Bzzztt...Zzzzzt.....Bzzzt..

"Tell all the supporters out there to relay the massage to their fighters that to focus their target to the chimera or else we will not survive this neverending attack!" Ordered the sergeant

"Roger!" Replied the person in charge of communications

[Somewhere near the chimera]

(Ryuuji I just got an order from the sergeant that to focus all the attacks on the chimera) said Jessica over the comms

(Me too!) Added Ai

"At you kidding me!" Reacted Jinwoo as he crashed the head of a chaos beast with his iron pole

"Our casualties kept increasing and they want us to head straight the source while we are pinned down here" he added as he blocked an attack from a mutated chaos beast

"We have no choice! It's all or nothing" said Ryuuji as he sliced a mutated chaos beast in half

"You'll go in as when I give my signal" ordered Ryuuji

"Got it" replied Jinwoo

Meanwhile in one of the buildings

(What should we do now?) asks Mike over the comms

"Well it's too dangerous for me if I suddenly charged out there... So let's wait for opportunity" answered Richard

(But that opportunity might be like one day from now) Mike pointed out

"If it takes that long then I'll just have to do a honorable thing right?" Said Richard

(Do whatever you want) said mike

[Mall]

"We're trapped!" Said a boy in a crowd

"The barricade won't hold out forever"said one of the employee working here

"We're doomed!" Said the woman

"I should have talked with my family more if I know that this was going to happen" said the man tearing up

Being trapped in a single room all the people inside started to despair even crying of a child can be heard

"Mommy are we going to die?" Asks the child hugging her mother finding comfort

Unable to say anything the mother said

"It's all right! Everything's gonna be okay" said the mother as she hugged her child back

Seeing this scenery, Isabelle's group felt a little hurt and anger for them being incompetent in this kind of situation

"Looks like their losing they're own morale" said Luisa

"Don't worry we gonna be alright! I'm sure of it... I don't know why but I can feel it" assured Isabelle while hugging the petrified kanzaki

"Isa....." Murmured Amelie

"It's no good" muttered John

"John? what's wrong?" Asks Iggy

"I said it's no good! We have to fight or else were all going to die!" John reasoned

"John don't you believe Isabelle's words?" Asks Luisa

"It's not that I don't believe her..... I'm sorry Isabelle but we believed you that this person who caught your attention can beat that monster! But now where are we?" He shouted

"John? Is this your sign of saying your jealous?" Said Iggy as he covered Isabelle

"Me Jealous? Over him? That person that can't do anything?" Mocked John

"John that's enough" warned Luisa

"Yeah! Just listen to her John" added Amelie

"How can I listen huh? We're all trapped here if only we made our escape earlier and didn't to what that guy said this wouldn't happen" shouted John

"John that enough" said Iggy as he hold down John

"Your going to far John!" Warned Luisa the second time

"John just calm down" plead Amelie

As of this moment Isabelle stood up and approached John

"That guy I just a failure as a member of the chaos breakers, that guy is incom..." Before he could finish his words Isabelle gave him a big slap in the face

Everyone inside the family restaurant was shocked including Amelie, Iggy, Luisa, and John himself

"Wha....what are you..." As John muttered this he saw Isabelle was looking at him intently with tears in her eyes

"What do you know?" She said

"Huh?" Replied John

"I said what do you know?" Shouted Isabelle as she grabbed John's collar

"Kanzaki told me everything, the reason why he chose to take the entrance exam" she added

"What does that have to do anything to our situation at all?" Asks John eyeing the petrified kanzaki

"It has to do something, especially the way you slander him like that" she answered

"What?" John asks not getting the point

"Are you a survivor of the catastrophe 10 years ago?" Asks isabelle

"I..." Muttered John

"Your not right? Your an immigrant from another country but Kanzaki over there is a survivor from that catastrophe" said Isabelle

"So? He survived what's wrong with that?" Asks John

"Your lucky we still have our parents with us but him he survived out there because of his parents sacrificing their lives.... Do you know how that feels? Losing the people you loved just like that? Asks isabelle

"So your expecting me to pity him?" Asked back John

"No he doesn't need your pity... He trained hard, suffered and even put his life in danger after all these years of being alone.... Among all of us he's the one that faced that thing while we ourselves are cowering in fear of it.....if we feel fear can't he also feel fear?" Asks Isabelle while glaring at John

Upon hearing this John can't utter a word

"Despite being afraid he used that fear to be able to face that thing and tried to protect us.... So you have no right to call him useless and incompetent if you yourself don't know his suffering" said Isabelle as she pushed back John

With this the room became silent

[Somewhere outside the Acadamy]

At the same time as the commotion inside the mall started Alice was running away from a chaos beast

"What's happening why are there so many monsters everywhere" she thought as she hide behind a garbage bin

Breathing roughly...

"I don't want to die! I don't want to die! Save me kanzaki!" She thought as she felt scared by the approaching chaos beast

As the chaos beast approached the garbage bin a large explosion occured getting it's attention

"*Sigh" calmed down Alice

"I better get away from here" as she thought this she immediately turned around the corner

When she turned at the corner she was faced with an open rift and an eagle type chaos beast emerge from it

Seeing the chaos beast Alice froze stiff

"No! Nononono!"

Despite this she got nothing to defend herself as she watched it's claws descend upon her

[Intersection]

As Ryuuji positioned himself he shouted

"Get ready"

With this he stepped back his right foot a little and raises Ifrit over his shoulders as he gathers the Mana around Ifrit turning them to flames

Instantly a Ifrit's Mana suddenly explodes violently making it look like the Mana was out of control

As Ryuuji stepped his right foot forward he quickly followed by hammering down Ifrit as hard as he can to produce a huge wave of flames

Bugooommmm!!!....boom..boom..boom..boom...boom..boom.boom..boom..boom..

Anything that the flame slash touches are being incinerated or explodes from the heat

Seeing this attack the chimera blocked it with it's barrier

Kaboooommm...crackle...crackle...

Upon contact a huge explosion occured shaking the earth, sheltering the ground, and destroying everything that's near it

After a moment Ryuuji saw a shadow emerges within the smoke

"Now!!!" He ordered

Immediately Jinwoo smashed his pole into the ground

"Earthquake!" He shouted

As he shouted this the ground begun to crumble around the chimera and large boulders started to bury it

"May I join in? Thunderball!" said Richard as he throws the thunderball at the trapped mutated beast

Kabooomm!!!... Bzzt....bzttttt....bzzzztt..

Because of the combination attack they expected that the chaos monster won't be able to survive

But reality does plays it's tricks as they saw the chimera heavily wounded and started to heal itself while the dozen of mutated beast surrounds it

"This thing just won't die!" Complained Richard

"It wasn't enough after all" added Jinwoo

"Tch!" Clicked Ryuuji

[Mall]

As the people inside the family restaurant heard the explosion they became certain that there's a huge fight happening outside

"So they're still fighting" commented Iggy

As he said this the mutated chaos beast and chaos beast alike started to destroy the barricade

"Ahhhh! They're coming inside!" Shouted the child

Seeing this John picked up a mop and said

"We need to fight! Or else all of us are going to die"

Hearing this all the men mustered their courage and picked up any thing that they can use as weapon and stand along side John

"Isabelle let's leave this to John and gather all the women and children" said Luisa

As she said this Isabelle turned her gaze away from John and gathered the women and children

At that moment the barricade broke apart and chaos being flooded the restaurant

"Push them back!" Shouted John as they tried to repel the chaos being

[Meanwhile]

As being petrified kanzaki wouldn't be able to hear anything but he can see everything that's around him

Unexpectedly he also saw how Isabelle slapped John in the face and argued with him

But now they are in a fire situation as the chaos being flooded the restaurant

"I need to get up.... They're gonna get killed..... they're gonna die.....get up....get up ....GET UP!!!!....'

Despite thinking this Kanzaki still couldn't even move a single finger

"Why?...I trained so that I can become strong enough to fight but why am I so powerless now..."

While lamenting his powerlessness a voice suddenly echoed inside his head

(Do you want power?)

Hearing this Kanzaki asked

Who are you... How can you speak inside my head?....

Despite that it still didn't give any reply and repeated it's question

And finally Kanzaki gave in

Yes...yes I want power to protect the people I care....

(Do you want so much?)

Yes.....yes..... I need it.....

(Then just this once i'll give you a speck of my power) said the mysterious voice

[At the same time]

While clinging to a little hope, kanzaki's Mana suddenly explodes pushing the chaos beings out of the restaurant

Boooom....swooooshhhh....

When Isabelle opened his eyes she saw Kanzaki standing and golden Mana are violently emerging from his body

With so much Mana Isabelle felt heavy pressured just by being near it but she knows that Kanzaki wouldn't do anything to her

As she was thinking this Kanzaki walked out of the restaurant

When he got out a dozen of mutated beast and chaos beast pounced on him

"Move aside" he muttered

And immediately all the mutated beast and chaos beast smashed into either the ground or walls

When this happens a chaos beast opens it's mouth and tried to shoot a laser breath

"Explode!" Kanzaki muttered

Immediately the gathered Mana in the mouth of the chaos being explodes damaging it in return

As he continued to walk along the pave way a chaos beast suddenly emerged from the ground beneath him and attacked him

Kanzaki blocked it by holding it's opened mouth with his two hands

"Enhance" he muttered

As he did this his strength suddenly increased and with the additional strength he ripped apart the mouth of the chaos beast

"Destroy" he muttered

And when he said these all chaos beast in the surrounding either died or explodes

Seeing this the people in the restaurant was left speechless

"Kanzaki?" Murmured Isabelle

"What happened to him?" Muttered John

As they were wondering this Kanzaki searched for the chimera by looking on its status and when he found its location he covered himself with electrified Mana and jumped building to building to reach his destination

As he left the people begin to praise him

"We're saved thank God!"

But Isabelle felt otherwise

"Kanzaki please be safe!" She muttered as she looked at the direction Kanzaki disappeared

[Intersection]

As they were being pushed back Richard begun to complain

"It's no good we can't get close!"

"We'll have just to try more cause if we give up now.... Many people will die" reasoned Jinwoo

"Hold your ground" ordered Ryuuji

As they struggle to hold their ground a person suddenly shot down from the top of the building

"What now?" Said Richard clearly exhausted

"Wait!" Ordered Ryuuji

"Hold your fire!" Shouted one of the soldiers

Consequently not only the users and soldiers that halted but also all the chaos being especially the chimera stopped moving

When the dust cleared they all were shocked to see Kanzaki was the person who landed on the ground

As everyone was frozen stiff in their places the chaos beings begun to feel threatened as kanzaki looks down on them with high glowing golden eyes
