Defeat after defeat from Cai Mao has pushed Liu Biao into the corner, and with this retainers began to lose respect with him and not listen to some of his orders choosing to consult with Liu Cong and Lady Cai, he decided to demote Cai Mao from the position of the grand general of his army to show his stature to all of his retainers, not knowing that this would backfield to him.

This was done by Liu Biao on the way to Wuling, which caused an uproar because the Cai Caln which had been favored continuously by Liu Biao due to Lady Cai, now fell out of favor due to Cai Mao.

Being demoted from the position of Grand General, Cai Mao led several of his closest allies to petition a protest against Liu Biao, but he was ignored and Liu Biao didn't want to see him and told him to meet him when they reached Wuling.

Being rejected by Liu Biao repeatedly, Cai Mao decided to turn to his sister to help him alleviate Liu Biao's anger and persuade Liu Biao to reinstate him as the Grand General because without this position the Cai Clan would be unstable.

Listening to her brother's words, Lady Cai tried to persuade Liu Biao to reinstate her brother back to the position of Grand General, while at the same time doing the things Liu Biao likes her to do even though she was somewhat disgusted doing this activity with him.

Unfortunately for her, it doesn't work as Liu Biao was very adamant about his decision, and her insistence in trying to persuade Liu Biao caused Liu Biao to be angered and even scolded her.

Knowing that Liu Biao was truly angry, Lady Cai could only stop and inform Cai Mao that she didn't manage to persuade Liu Biao, and her attempts only further angered Liu Biao so she decided to stop.

Hearing this Cai Mao realized that Liu Biao was truly serious this time, seeing that there was nothing he could do but reduce the damage this had on the Cai Clan's prestige and power it had over Liu Biao's retainers.

As Cai Mao was doing damage control, some of Liu Biao's retainers that have been dissatisfied with the Cai Clan's tyranny over them, began to make some moves to debunk the Cai Clan's power.

People from the Cai Clan or who were close to the Cai Clan who held low positions in the government were eliminated either demoted or jailed, and all of this was approved by Liu Biao who turned a blind eye to the actions.

When Liu Biao and his entire army finally arrived at Wuling, The Cai Clan had lost control over the entire lower management of Liu Biao's Government, and when Cai Mao tried to retaliate Liu Biao blocked him.

This in turn caused the entirety of Liu Biao's retainers who hated Cai Mao and the Cai Clan as a green light to further dismantle the Cai Clan's influence and power, so Wuling was chaotic for a while due to this.

When Cai Mao and the Cai Clan were desperate they were at their wit's end, after losing control over half of the middle management of Liu Biao's government, suddenly Liu Biao stepped in and ended the chaos.

This shocked everyone as they thought Liu Biao would let it slide, unbeknownst to everyone however Liu Biao wanted to teach Cai Mao and the Cai Clan a lesson, not for them to disappear which would take a vacuum of power in his government.

Cai Mao and the Cau Cln thought that they were finally entered back into Liu Biao's favor, but after waiting for some time Cai Mao wasn't reinstated as the Grand General, and all of the Cai Clan's losses weren't avenged.

On the other hand, any attempt to discredit or engulf the Cai Clan's power was also blocked by Liu Biao, so ending the chaos of the power struggle in Wuling where it returned to the serene situation it had before.

Jin Xuan the administrator of Wuling heaves a sigh of relief as the chaos finally stops, and laments why his commandery is the closest to Jiangling, much closer than Changsha who also the closest town to Jiangling.

He doesn't know that his administrator compatriot Han Xuan was planning to rebel and embrace either Liu Bei or Sun Ce as his new lord, not ready to make a choice as he was still playing both sides to see who was the much better choice.

As Southern China was entering a new chapter of struggle where each had its own intrigue, back at Xiapi Sima Yi who had become a page for Lie Fan began to prove himself to everyone.

He participated in the discussion of the strategy for Lie Fan's Western Campaign against Cao Cao, where he contributed several key points that helped Xun You, Chen Gong, and Lu Su in developing the plan for attack.

As for how he could participate, it's because Lie Fan joined the discussion to learn and also to see if he could suggest something using his modern perspective and knowledge concerning military tactics he had from many eras and cultures that maybe could be used.

That's when Sima Yi suddenly interjected into the discussion which surprised everyone in the room, but soon he was taken seriously by Xun You, Chen Gong, and Lu Su as theoretically everything he said could work.

So he was taken seriously by the three of them and from there Sima Yi smoothly entered into the ranks of Lie Fan's told advisors discussion, and when the meeting ended everyone was left in awe with the young man.

As everyone left the room, Lie Fan and Sima Yi were walking side by side with Zhou Chang and Huang Shao following them from behind, Lie Fan praised Sima Yi for what he had just done in the meeting.

Lie Fan: "Sima Yi what you have just done was very fabulous! I never expected that you would be so bold as to interrupt Gongda, Gongtai, and Zijing like that! Fortunately, all of us knew of your talent, so your transgression was ignored."

Sima Yi: "I'm sorry My Lord, it's not that I wanted to interrupt but after doing many menial tasks such as copying, sending letters, etc. I needed something to prove my worth to you My Lord, so I brave myself to interrupt the meeting."

Lie Fan: "Hmm there was indeed almost no chance for you to prove yourself since last year we never go out to war to focus on developing our technology and domestic matters, nice work but next time ask for permission first since you never know who you could offend."

Sima Yi: "Yes I would be 19 years old this year My Lord, and I have become your page for almost two years My Lord, why do you ask?"

Lie Fan: "Nothing, I just think it's maybe time for me to fulfill your request to me since you have proven yourself to be very capable and you could be very patient and calm to a naive what you dream of."

When Sima Yi heard what Lie Fan had just said, he thought he heard it wrong at just but when he saw that Lie Fan was very serious, he couldn't hold back his excitement and thanked Lie Fan profusely.

Lie Fan seeing how excited Sika Yi was, told him that while he gave his permission it didn't mean that he would force this on Wannian, so the decision was left to Wannian whether she wanted to be with him or not.

Of course, Sima Yi knew this because he also didn't want to force Wannian to be with him, but at least for him, the biggest hurdle to wooing Wannian had finally been lifted.

The two of them returned to the Lie Clan residence and when they arrived, they saw Wannian accompanying her nieces and nephews playing in the garden, while Ying Yue, Diao Chan, Cai Wenji, and Lu Lingqi were enjoying their time at the garden pavilion.

The arrival of Lie Fan attracted his children who were playing with Wannian, who saw that their father had returned and immediately swarmed him, Yanyan and Nuonuo who was four years old this year were picked up by Lie Fan, while Chenchen and Yaoyao who was 8 years old stood on his side while chattering.

Their chattering attracted the attention of four of Lie Fan's wives, who smiled seeing the scene as Ying Yue called for Lie Fan to join them, leaving Sima Yi behind where Sima Yi also couldn't join Lie Fan in his private time, so he turned to Wannian to talk to her.

He asked Wannian if they could talk just the two of them alone, away from prying eyes and ears while he used his eyes to indicate who the prying eyes and ears were, which were Lie Fan and his family.

Hearing Sika Yi's words, Wannian blushed a little while nodding her head and said that they could talk near the fish pond, which was built in the secluded area of the garden that was only used by Lie Fan and his wives to enjoy some quality time.

As Sima Yi and Wannian leave the area, Lie Fan's wives are intrigued by what they see and Diao Chan asks Lie Fan if it's okay to let them leave together, because since knowing about Sima Yi's attraction to Wannian and his intention to pursue her, Liw Fan had been very overprotective of Wannian.

Lie Fan shook his head and said that it was fine while playing with his children, and proceeded to say that he had given Sima Yi his approval to woo Wannian, but on the condition that Wannian allow it and he doesn't force himself on her.

Hearing this, the four of Lie Fan's wives turned their heads to look at each other a try were surprised, not expecting Lie Fan to finally give Sima Yi his approval, as they had expected that Lie Fan would never agree but it turns out they think wrong.

As the four of them think about how wrong they were, Sima Yi and Wannian finally at the pond where Wannian proceeds to ask Sima Yi what he wants to ask her needing them to go to a secluded area, Sima Yi who hears Wannian's question takes a deep breath to calm himself, and he looks at Wannian with the most sincere look which surprised Wannian, as she never saw Sima Yi looking at her like that before.
